Film Studies is designed to deepen your understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of film. You will engage with a wide range of different kinds of films, developing your skills of observation, discussion, critical analysis and personal reflection. Your creative and practical skills will be expressed both in audio-visual and written form. Exploring the relationship between film and the individual will be an important element of the course. You will study how films create meaning and can produce an intellectual and emotional response from audiences. In giving you the opportunity to study significant film movements and aspects of world cinema, it is intended that an interest in film culture will be fostered which can be taken forward in lifelong learning.
